Retainer ring
Hi yall. I just recently put my 1988-1990 nv3500 gear mesh assemblies back in the rear half of the transmission case and im having a hard time getting the "c" ring retainer for rear main carrier bearing back in place to bolt it place
Is it even nessesary to have it Anybody ever work on these transmissions before?

If c-ring was not needed, the factory would not have wasted the time machining a groove for it nor have wasted the money buying it.

Its not realy a c ring or snap ring. Its a c shaped piece of metal with three threaded holes. The bolts go through the case and bolt in on the sealed bearings race. Its evermore being a pain to get the thing to line up with the bolt holes in the case.
