Rev trouble on chevy 350 1980
I have just got my truck running i bought a new carb its a holley 750 i got it running but as the choke opens its revs up more does any one have an idea
This is normal. As the choke opens the mixture normalizes. Until you tap the gas pedal the high idle cam will still be engaged. As soon as you tap the gas the high idle cam should drop and it should idle down.
I have done that and it still whants to stay at a high high rev ive hit the gas no change do u think i need a fuel pressure Regulator maybe im getting to much gas flow
Have you looked to see if the fast idle cam is not touching the adjustment screw. How about the normal idle adjustment screw.
No im new at this stuff can u tell me how i go about doing that
Like T-Bucket said, it sounds like you have a problem with the high idle cam and/or adjustment. Do you know how to adjust it? Do you know where it is? It is really easy to adjust once you figure out where it is and how it works.
Last engine I dry started the high idle cam was 'stuck' from the carb sitting around for a couple of months after being rebuilt. When it was started it wouldn't idle down as the choke opened. I shut it off, opened the throttle wide open and tapped on the high idle cam, literally a light tap, and it freed up. Problem over. |
No i dont now how im doing a little investigating
