Richmond Gear 5-speed,Why all the first gear ratio options?
I'm using a Richmond Gear 5-speed (A version) in my car, which has the following ratios:
A 3.28 2.13 1.57 1.24 1.00
Here are the 1st gear options (B and C versions):
B 4.06 2.22 1.57 1.24 1.00
C 4.41 2.22 1.57 1.24 1.00
My questions are:
1/ Under what type of situation would a person want the B or C versions?
2/ Would such a wide change between 1st and 2nd make smooth shifting a little more difficult?
To a lot of folks those are useless; but if for some reason you had a truck that pulled a trailer, it would be good; or perhaps you do a lot of parades with your car; or you absolutely need to run a rear axle ratio at like a 2.73:1 for some ungodly reason.
