Richmond Gear Changes Hands

Seems Regal Beloit sold Richmond to Midwest (Motive Gear). No idea on what effect, if any, this will have on acquiring new T10 boxes.

I understand they purchase the Gear division, IE: the old Zoom company.

I don't believe they purchased the transmission division.

So when you own both sides of the performance gear division you can dictate prices.

Not sure I like this.

IMHO

Richmond Gear manufactures ring and pinions, transmissions and traction control devices for the racing, high-performance and off-road aftermarkets. Midwest's acquisition of Richmond Gear also includes the Powertrax and Lock-Right product lines. It's my understanding that Richmond Gear was sold to Midwest Truck & Auto Parts? who mainly specialize in aftermarket and high performance parts. My guess would be that since Richmond Gear manufactures the ring and pinions, transmissions, etc, it usually follows that a new company intends to reduce manufacturing costs and often lower their standards by cutting back on quality of the items to increase their profits. That may or may not be the case here. Most financial ventures such as this is generated by profit and money, not always the product.I checked their stocks and they appear to be doing OK despite the selling of their assets...
