Riley engine on 1948 Chevy pickup
I recently bought a Chevy pickup, the truck came wih two engines. Both of the engines looks the same but one has iley markings on it. The sterring wheel is also a Riley. The Riley is a British engine and as this truck is right hand drive
(I am South African where we drive on the right side of the road) it may be why its is fitted with the Riley. I would like to find out if this truck was originally fitted with the Riley engine and steering wheel. Any ideas wher I could look? |

I think it must be a transplant.......I believe that all imports to South Africa, be it GM or whatever, were Canadian cars. They definitely would have stock Chevy drive trains. If you look closely, you should be able to see some signs of welding or some other modification.

The VIN......or serial number will be on that plate.......hopefully, its still there. It should also be on the title papers.
The VIn on those older vehicles wont tell a lot
