ring gap help.

So im about to build a engine for my truck now and im going to be running stock bore and im just going to hone it and put in some new rings and bearing and all the fun stuff. well my question is when i gap my rings how hard will it be and how much hp do you get from having the thighest ring gap as possible. Is there any down side to it.

You're running new rings in an old bore- if it were me, I'd throw a set of std. bore rings in it and call it good.

The amount of gain you'll see by going tight on the end gaps will be negated by the less-than-ideal seal you're gonna get running an old bore/pistons, IMO.

A rule of thumb (of many) says to multiply the bore by 0.004" for the top ring, 0.005 for the 2nd. ring, if you decide on a file-fit ring set.
