ring gear

is their a way to measure the ring gear in the rearend? i have to measure the tooth side of the gear,correct?? im looking into buying a powertrax no- slip in my rearend. i want to know if its a 8.2 or 8.5

What are the ID numbers on the axle housing?

its covered up in so much gunk i couldnt tell ya. it has chrome cover and 2 lugs underneath it

69 chevelle 10 bolt. everyones telling me an 8.2. axle code CA off the build sheet. it has to lugs underneath the cover that can be an 8.5.

Unless it has been previously swapped out, your car should have the 8.2.

I recommend scraping some of that gunk you described to us and getting some numbers, is there a possibility of a picture of the rear of the axle?

according to that website its the 8.5. it has those lugs on the bottom of the housing. ill email you the pic
