Ring gear bolts, lock washers or not?

I'm in the process of setting up a GM 12 bolt (car) gear set. I noticed the install kit came with lock washers for ring gear bolts along with some red ultra strength thread locker.

I don't remember using lock washers before, but maybe so, it's been a while since I did a rear end.

For a strictly street application, what's the best to use, regular lock washers like came in the kit, hardened flat washers, or no washers at all?

Of course Red thread locker regardless.

All Chevy 12 bolt rear ends came from the factory with lock washers on the ring gear bolts. Some of the new rebuild kits have shorter bolts with a washer head on them. You can't use lock washers with those bolts because they are too short. If you are using a standard hex head bolt then use lock washers and the locktite.
