Ripped off by collectorcarsandparts.com?

I sent "Larry Brown" $25 dollars for a weathered and used Hood badge for a 1950 Studebaker Champion a couple months back.

He was advertising here and on the HAMB.

I did not google him at the time, but even if I did it would appear he is better known for sending crap and promising gold.

In this case he has sent nothing at all.

Since he has used both this site and the HAMB, and who knows how many other sites, there needs to be a warning out there.

He rips people off for cheap parts too.

I will be talking to the PD in Quincy Illinois tomorrow.

I can not imagine that they are going to jump right on it, but according to several postings on the net that I have read, they know him well; but again... he usually sends something and that enables him to get away with it.

If you see his adds (usually a grocery list of cars and parts and a link to his website) put a warning up or let me know where you saw it by PM.

It appears that he goes by multiple names and uses a couple of different locations, but if he links back to www.collectorcarsandpart.com he is likely to be the same individual looking for a new mark.

FRAUD ALERT: Larry Brown and Collectorcarsandparts.com

The user name was a plain and simple one.

I wish I could remember what he used.

I am sure I will find it if I keep looking in my saved messages.

I have "wanted" adds here and on the HAMB, so it was not to hard for him to find me.

I suspected he might send me some junky part that was not going to be easy to use, but I did not expect him to take the money and run.

The website is not posted as an advertisement.

It is a warning for all others.

This guy has taken people for thousands of dollars.

Just Google Larry Brown or colletorcarsandparts.

He only got $25 out of me, and I will do everything in my power to make him regret it and warn others.

I trusted the sites because they seem to have a good handle on dealing with crooks, but this guy slipped past.

Read about the guy that purchased a Studebaker Hawk from him online in the Google results.

50% correct Centerline. Additional Details below

He posted on my wanted add, and added his own for sale list.

Seems like he added the for sale list to several forums.

Unfortunately, when these things get deleted, someone like this often comes back with a new name selling the same old scam.

He has several websites that are similar, email addresses that are similar, and he knows what he is doing.

He has used this website before and he will use it again.

I spoke to the Quincy Police Department today:

Robert Copley
Police Chief
110 South 8th Street
Quincy, IL 62301
(217) 228-4470
qpd@quincyil.gov

I spoke to Sgt Tedrow (and a few others) for some time about the issue.

Apparently Mr Brown and his many other personalities have been a PITA and are well known for what they do.

Check these search results and look at the many websites he spams: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&r...er&btnG=Search

His scam is thus:

To find justice when dealing with Larry Brown, DAVID EHRHART, or any of the other names this individual uses, you need to live in Illinois because the best you will get is a brief detention by the police. Nobody wants to extradite this looser because he is not worth the cost of extradition.
If you want to Extradite you will need to hire a legally capable private Bail Bondsman to do it. (This will be expensive)

Most people cut their losses and write up a scathing report (if they feel ambitious like this guy did here: http://www.skywolf.com/ ), but I have a lot of time on my hands right now, so I am prepared to take some extra steps to put the screws to this guy and stop him from continuing his scam operation.

I am willing to bet that the kind of guy who likes to sell parts he does not own or intend to send, and vehicles that are not as described...probably does not like to pay his state and federal sales or income taxes either.

I bet the tax man will have better luck seeking justice than I will, and the enemy of my enemy can be a useful tool when dealing with this kind of crook.

I will keep you posted as to what kind of success I have, but there is plenty of evidence that exists via Google to prove this guy is bad news and needs to be added to the scammer list.

Larry the scam artist

It's a shame that this is my first post here but Larry has done it again.

I recently negotiated a puchase of a 55 with Larry.
We agreed on a purchase price of $28750 plus shipping on the following conditions.
1) That the car title be in his name
2) That pictures of the vin tag and registration would be sent to me.

Larry Brown agreed to this and requested a $500 deposit be sent to him via Western Union.

The Western Union was sent to him on Saturday, March 16th.

On Monday, March 17th, Larry Brown messaged me to say that HE WAS NOT WILLING to put the vehicle in his name, ( this breaches our agreement).

He then said he WAS NOT WILLING to provide photos of the vin tag or registration ( again breaching our agreement). - This makes it impossible to do a lien search putting my complete investment in jeprody not knowing if the car ha sa lien or if has been reported stolen.

At that time I insisted that my deposit be refunded, which he agreed to and said he was going to town to do it and he would send the MTCN money transfer number. HE HAS NOT and is NOT returning emails.

This leaves me to take action by contacting Boarder Security, The Missouri Highway Patrol and the IRS in an attempt to get my money back.

I have contacted the Quincy, Ill Police Chief above mentioned.
Anyone else experience problems with Larry Brown?

Larry brown

After a day of searching and sharing Larry Browns history on facebook, including his own business page, he says he will refund me tomorrow.

We'll see. I will never deal with him again or share his leads with anyone.
