Rochester QuadraJet 4Mv

I hear this was a popular carb in it's day. What are the aspects of using a QJet on a decent 350 engine. I'm in it for cruising.

I'm still a newbie, or should somone really choose a good Holley 650 or 750 double.

I planned on using a Edelbrock Performer manifold.

Hint's, tips, suggestions, comments, etc?

Greg

Go to the bottom of this forum page and type "Q-jet" and look at all the threads. You will find the a properly prepped and tuned Q-jet is held in high esteem here. Some would say it is the best carb out there for the street. Check it out.

Just what I was thinking. Great!

Thanks for the links, Mustangsaly.

On another note: Sold some old junk in the junk drawer today, and then went out and bought the Mallory 7560001 HEI Distributor.

Gonna scour the yards and ebay to find a good Qjet now. :-)

I have one on my 350 chevy powered trans am. I like it a lot, especially when you hear the secondaries open up! Hang on!

I like the Qjets too. in them links theres info on how to identify the better Qjets. and how to rebuild and adjust one. I'm no expert, but I suggest reading all the links.

when I was 17 my uncle helped me (really vise versa) build a high compression pontiac 400 4 speed with headers and 373 detroit locker in a gm 10bolt rear with aftermarket axles in a 67 GTO, it was a Qjet and a HEI my uncle rebuild and rejeted the Qjet and changed the metering rods, he built my Qjet outa about 4 or 5 of them to make one for me, but I'm Not sure (we took the hei to a local speed shop and had it recurved to the combo we built) it was a poor mans build and run mid 12s with slicks

hes gone now and I wish I would of paid more attention to what he said and did.

Qjet

you can down load a Delco Qjet manual.
This manual covers all Rochester QJet carbs including the 4MV, M4MC, M4ME, M4MED, E4ME and E4MED

The Old Car Manual Project

It may not be for your model but more ref info never hurts.
I'm just trying to learn these Q-jets Thanks for all the links I'll be reading them all.

Great Guys! Thanks for the information. Sounds like I'll be looking for a Q-Jet then.

Happy rodding!
