Im planing on gettin new roller rocker arms for my 350, and im wondering which ratio to get. 1.5 or 1.6. Its got an agressive cam, torker 2 intake, and 750 holly carb. Double hump heads and stock short block. Do i have to do any mods to put a different ratio in and what kinds of gains will i get out of this.

You will get .030 more lift out of the cam. You wont really notice the difference. But if you get 1.6 roller rockers it will help reduce friction. Which is always a good thing......

going from 1.5 to 1.6 rockers you gain around .030 on the lift of the cam. So if you cam is 500 lift. It will go to 530. Or 600 lift will go to 630, and so on.....Remember you are not doing anything to the cam. Just getting more lift out of the 1.6 rocker which increases from 1.5 at a calculated amount....
Did not notice you already had roller rockers. I retract my "less friction" statement... Hey best mechanic, you should think about changing your name... dave@teamche.com www.teamche.com [ May 14, 2003: Message edited by: www.teamche.com ]
|

Just to keep the math simple, let's say the cam had a .100 lift profile. When you multiply this figure by 1.5 (1.5 ratio rocker), you get .150 gross valve lift. When you multiply this by 1.6 (1.6 ratio rocker), you get .160 gross valve lift. We just gained .010 with 1.6 ratio rockers. Sure isn't .030.
Are you sure your website isn't "teachme", instead of "teamche". :p |

I hope for your customers sake that you have more welding knowledge than you just showed what you know about cams/rockers/anything.
Wouldn't want to see you get sued for manslaughter after a customers front end came apart or anything. Face it, you're just the shop Beaatch aren't you? |

And you're a regular MORON...or troll? Why don't you edit your posts again, trolls love to use this feature to make the thread pointless, even if they are morons.
Bizkit, stick with 1.5 ratio.

[quote]Whatever the lift is with the 1.5 rockers.... divide by 15 then multiply by 16.
Example.......the lift is .600 w/ 1.5 .600 divided by 15 = .040 .040 X 16 = .640

So Best Mech you need to do some studying yourself bro.....Do not be so fast to judge people...We are all learning....And I personally know the owner of TeamCHE.com.... Great guys at that shop, always willing to help people..... Dave was using a round figure to estimate the lift on cams using 1.6 roller rockers.... But a lot of guys will tell you .030 because it will be very close the actual lift without knowing how to do the math...... |
