rocker panels ????
 

can someone give a brief "how to " on replacing rocker panels on a 68 Mustang FB. I will replace both inner and outer rocker panels . I am also replacing floor pans . :welcome:

Since the rockers are part of the integrity of the car reinforce the door jambs first and only do one at a time its not much differnt than replacing a 1/4 panel you'll need some tools,air chisel ,sawzall,hole punch ,drill screws,etc...are you using used rockers and pans or new? after market or ford?

Cut the old one off, weld the new one on. :D . Seriously that is like asking how to do a nice paint job in one paragraph. I suggest you lurk here for a while and read every thing you can about body work. Also you might purchase some good body shop books I'm sure will be suggested further down in this thread. There are some very good resources in this forum that can offer some valuable tips and photos. The work involved can run the gamut from fairly sophisticated to a real bugger. :pain:

i'm using dynacorn one piece floor pan and repro rocker panels

I'd start with the floor,start where the floor meets the rocker and cut along that edge..cut a section of the floor thats a lot smaller than the new floor but big enough to set the new floor in and mark all the way around the edge of the of the old floor to show you where it needs to be cut then cut it two inches below the line all the way around...use drill screws to fasten the new floor down tightly and re mark it again for a closer cut with a 1/2 of lea-way all the way around weld one side then underneath then move to the rocker dont forget to punch holes in the floor where it folds down to meet the rocker you'll need them for welding the floor to the rocker.

thanks .... that helps give me an idea how to get started .... do I need to weld braces across the door opening or body?

Yes,but not for the floor,just before you cut the rockers.they'll just be in the way..
