hey guys,
Im am completely re-wiring my 84 cj7 and ran into a snag. I ordered a couple of marine rocker switches and im not too sure how to wire em. Its a CARLIN TECHNOLOGIES DPDT marine style illuminated rocker switch (3 position - ON /OFF/ ON) with 7 terminals on the back. On the left there are 3 terminals (with numbers 8,2 and 3 next to the terminal), and on the right side there are 4 terminals ( numbers 7,4,5 and 6). I got a SPST with just 3 terminals on the back and the 3 is load, the 2 is supply, and the 7 is ground, im just not sure if its the same on the DP and what the other terminals are.I mean i know about the DP and all of that and how its used and everything, i jus dont know what the actual terminals are. If you could clearify what numbers are my other loads, and if there is another ground or what would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

The extra terminal on the DPDT should be the ground for the bulb inside the switch,the bulb gets its power from the circuit being energized so it has to have a ground to light the bulb.It should be the same for both switches.Also be aware that switches of this type connect the terminals together on the opposite side of the switch from which the rocker is pushed to.In other words.if the rocker is pushed down to the 7&8 side it will connect the 4&5 and 2&3 side.

Sorry about that ,I didn't address your question about the terminal designations, if the DPDT switch are inline as you look at the back then8&3 go to your circuits,2 is common(power)7&5 to your circuits,4 is common(power) and 6 is ground for the bulb in the switch.Had a Senior Moment or not awake yet!(pick one!) Hope this helps.
