Question rodding a 305

I recently obtained a smallblock for my streetrod that I had thought was a 350. Turns out it's a 305. Seems to be a good engine and I'd still like to use it. Im just looking for the usual, a good cruiser with a mild cam, big carb/intake and headers with reasonable power. I know the 305s have smaller valves and bore. I would like some input regarding possibilities of using this for my street machine, or should I save it for the next work truck I buy. Ive already seen some that don't view it as rod material. I also have a 455 olds engine lying around. Would this be preferable. I believe its a 1988 model, (its blue) the older 455s were red/orange and I believe its a good strong engine. Im looking for recommendations here. Anyone have any?

well what you puttin it in? 305 can be built same as a 350, just has better low rpm torque, that's why they put them in trucks. go back 30 days and there are lots of posts about them.

I would go with the 305 they are good motors for a every day drive or car show go with a 292 cam with about 411 lift @ 50 that will give good power for a car.
