Post Roller cams

I picked up a '91 350 SBC. It had an older style hydraulic flat tappet cam in it. I would like to upgrade to a roller cam since the block is already made for it. With the older style cams and lifters you have to keep the lifters matched with the cam lobes, but I (think) understand this is not necessary with roller cams. I have a set of used roller lifters. Can these be used with a new roller cam? Could a used roller cam be used with used roller lifters? Any corporate knowledge out there?
I couldn't find any old threads that cover this area. Thanks.

as long as the rollers are in good condition you can use them on a new or used rollercam. they do not have to be matched to a specific lobe.

Is there anything in particular that would indicate a faulty roller lifter? I've checked the rollers for obvious nicks, etc.

if you use a new cam most if not all of the manufacturers will say that you must use new lifters or your warrenty is void.

check to see if the snap ring or retainer in the top is ok, if hydraulic check to see if they hold their adjustment by pushing down hard on the push rod seat, they should not bottom out, if they are full of oil they probably won't move, if they do they should stop and feel solid at the end of the travel
