roller tip to valve tip alighnment

Would someone please tell me what is the acceptable amount the roller can be off center to the valve center ? I have run stamped rockers but they could move a little because of the ball like pivot point. The rollers are mounted on a ridged horizontal plane. Appreciate any help.

I would guess anything off the center of the valve tip would tend to want to push the valve sideways. When i checked my tip alignment, i used a checking spring and i used a magic marker on the top of the valve tip, and it was right on the money.

Roller tip

They should be right in the center. You can use magic marker or prussian blue to test for this. You mark the top of the valve then turn the engine over and look for the clean spot. You change the pushrod length to change the contact point on the valve stem.

off center

The rocker roller is off cener from side to side on the intake valve. The patern is perfect with the 1/3 rule.Half way up on the lifter puts the roller in the middle of the valve, but the roller ,[ looking at it from the side ],is riddeing to the rear of the block. This is on # 1 piston intake valve. The roller is still on the valve, but it is off center about 1/16 of an inch. It's almost like my preformer RPM head rocker stud was drilled 1/16 off center. My push rod steped up guides are in the perfect position though, with clearence the same amount on both sides.
