rotating assembly

If your were in the market for a 383 sbc rotating assembly what and who would you go with? I just blew my KB hyper number 5 piston up I believe it was the notorious ring gap issue. Anyways I want to get close to 500HP and 6500rpms max. The current rods are eagle I beam but not sure what series,(don't know if I should retain rods and buy pistons or whole assembly)so please help my top end switch has now turned to engine rebuild. Thanks for the help

383 and 6500? it's gonna be real hard to do that. Especaily on street compression. I would thiink a scat forge crank and I beam rods with forged piston will do you real good. The HP is in the heads and cam and RPM.

Basic questions,
HOW MUCH $$$$ do you have to spend ?
What is it going to be used for ?
How do you know the rods, crank ,cam are good ?
To take a guess I say yes get the same parts without the NOS, at least it ran. Melting a piston is a little different than blowing it up.
Luv the smell of NITRO in the morning.

Scat cast crank, 4340 I-beam capscrew rods (3/8" or 7/16" rod bolts, depends on your needs or budget which you choose), SRP pistons and rings. Buy it already internally balanced from SCAT. If you want to piece it together from different sources and have balancing done locally then KB does make a nice FORGED piston at a good price.
I feel for you, I also got bit by the KB hypers same as your description. I was dumb enough(15 yrs ago) to buy a second set

The car is a Saturday night bruiser no track time but I do like to beat on it. It probably would never see 6500 but I don't think 5000-6000 is out of question with tire spin. I don't know if the crank, rods, or cam are good, so far the lifters did not look gouged, cam has yet to come out. Has anyone had experience with resleeved cylinders? The broken piston(broke on edge of exhaust valve relief) cracked the cylinder wall, local machine shop wants $135 to resleeve. Just not sure to buy assembled short block or work with what I got. obviously the combustion chamber in the head got damaged but, it wasn't any deep gouges, just not sure. What would you do?
