Any good shop that turns rotors will have a spec book.

Im afraid if I take them in they will tell me to buy new ones (they would love to sell $50 rotor vs $10 to turn one)

Just watch them mike it. I get $12.00 now. But, I gladly show the customer where the rotor mikes.

Look on the rotor. Every rotor and drum is required to have the minimum thickness or diameter stamped or cast on it.

On another note I don't really have to turn them, they're not warped or anything just the pads are worn down

In Michigan, rotors on a 96 car would be impossible to read from all the rust.
