Rotors
I have a '74 Vega, does anyone know if the rotors from S-10 fit a Vega? Or do you need the spindles and disc brakes from the S-10? Thank You

Of course, the even more obvious problem is that the caliper mounts are integral to the spindle and the S-10 rotors are larger than the Vega rotors, so there's no way to move the calipers to fit. |
rotor change ?
I'd worry more about the caliper hook up than the bearings, get the spindle outside measurement and the inside rotor measurement and check with a bearing co. for bearings. Are the rotors the sme dia. ? if so you maybe in luck. lol

http://www.centricparts.com/ Click on the "Select your vehicle" button on the left side of the page and a new window will open that allows you to select the part (rotors, calipers, drums, etc) and year/make/model. The resulting list will provide links to images of the parts. |
Go to www.v8monza.com, all the info you seek is there. The S-10 swap requires you to use the S-10 spindle, a '75-up Vega/Monza lower ball joint, and a set of the tapered ball joint stud adapters sold at V8Monza.
Your other choice is to look for '75-up Monza spindles and brakes, these have a better vented rotor and better caliper, but are still 4 bolt wheel pattern. Getting pretty hard to find in usable shape however. The S-10 swap is really the most economical way to get 5 bolt wheels and better brakes and is pretty easy to do. |
thanks joe
