"Roy" from American HotRod the Series

My favorite guy at Boyd Coddington's shop is Roy. Roy is suffering from Lung Cancer and his future is very uncertain. I really don't want this thread to turn into a bash Boyd session, so please don't. Roy has impressed me with his no nonsense style and magic with metal. I learned of his illness from another board and the information was confirmed by a member of Boyd's staff.

Here's a link to a photo taken yesterday at the shop. Boyd threw a retirement party for Roy.

GODSPEED Roy, please get well soon.

That is to bad. Roy is about the only guy on there that I have respect for. He may seem hard around the edges but I bet he has forgoten more than most of those guys will ever learn. I hope all goes well for him.

Roy is the only one in that dump that is worth a DAM! When it is time to go nobody can stop it. He will go out in style.

I liked Roy too. Watching him do the metal fabrication was always cool.

The show has moved to Monday nights. The Kustomizer, AHR, Monster Garage, American Chopper. I think that is the line-up.

Man, that's sad to hear Roy is in such a bad way. Hopefully he'll pull through. He sure does make that show. I saw the show last week and the Swedish guy told Boyd it was time for him to move on. He's a character too that will be missed. I like the show and it won't be the same without Roy on it. May God bless you Roy!

Well, the shows run 4 to 5 months behind. It doesn't look good. He is on oxygen and in a wheelchair. All the best, Roy! When he blew up the styrofoam cup with the oxy/acetylene torch was PRICELESS!

I don't think anything could make Boyd teary eyed even something like this.
While on this topic I watched Overhaulin the other night I did anyine see what I think I saw. Mike the "Machinist" in the background ?

What gives with that!

Brian

Just watched AHR. They didn't make a big deal about it, but you could see Roy in the wheelchair in a couple of shots at the very end.

As far a Foose goes. Mike, Charley, and I think Andrew (Beetle Bailey) work for Chip now. Charley went because of the opportunity to work on a Riddler car. He kinda took Beetle with him. Mike started doing work for Chip designing motorcycle wheels "on the side" while still at Boyd's. Boyd found out and he was outta there.
