rtv silicone in rear main cap?

This my 1st motor build, its a 92 ford 5.0...
Do I need to put silicone in between the rear main cap and the block? It sounds like something I could mess up really easily.
Does anyone have advice on installing a one piece rear main seal? Neither of the books I have go into detail on one piece rear main seal installation. Any other advice is always appreciated. Thanks, John

YEEEEEEHHHAAWWWW
Absolutely use a one piece rubber pan gasket..$ 35. If you can't afford to do it right the first time, think how much aggrivation it will be when you do it again.

As for installing the one piece seal.... don't bend it when you tap it in... use something to spread out the pressure..... lube the crankshaft seal surface and the seal with assembly lube before installation. You don't want it to be dry at first start up. You might check with a Ford Mech. or a GOOD machine shop. They usually share advice to novice hot rodders.
