Rumor control - New Chevy Camaro

Okay guys, I was talking with one of my buddies over the weekend and he told me that Chevrolet is coming out with a new Retro styled Camaro in 2007. Anybody else hear about this? Is the styling going to be similar to the Kris Horton images that were being circulated about a year ago?

Not 07

That will not be for 2007. There was a planed "car platform" for the L76 V8, but due to budget issues it was delayed. As far as I know there still is no indication that it will be the camaro.

Last I heard it was a no go. It WAS planned for 2007 but the budget cuts hit and so was the Veta, or Zeta platform, on which the Camaro, new GTO and others were based, was cancelled.

Camaro concept for 2006 is at the detroit auto show this week.
See photos at http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do...tid=ga11455728

Looks pretty cool. The interior is very reminiscent of the 69 model. Lots of 69 style cues. I winder if it comes with a 396 and a 4-speed?

i saw the camaro and the challanger at the shows on tv. they are both also on the cover of Automobile magazine, with one page on the 'maro and a four page spread of the challanger. the mag has two different versions of the camaro's front end, neither of which was used at the car show, which had a front end that was better than both, and more like the originals.. unfortunately there are no definite production dates for EITHER car. as a chevy freak and 2nd gen camaro owner, i would personally be ALL OVER that hemi-challanger! hmmmmm, drool drool! oh wait, we have an icon for that... in the meantime, i'm hoping if i can pay off my credit cards in a few months MAYBE i can get into a 2005 mustang. yummy

Well, why would chevy be making camaro concepts? Maybe not 2007, but 2008? 9?..... 10? The detroit autoshow camaro was beautiful... Nice LS2 in there...

WHEN they finally do make one wouldnt it be ****** if it had the....LS7, that would be the best option on the car. I also heard since the zeta platform was canelled that they probably wont do it for a while anyways.

Whatever they come up with I hope it's not that Cadillac looking star wars thinghy. I am also a Camaro freak, but I would spring for the Challenger based on what I see from Chevy's asian looking front end disigners.

Does anybody here really think Chevy will bring back the Camaro, with all the problems GM is having they will be lucky to survive. Since Chrysler is in better financial shape, the Challenger has a better shot at being made than the Camaro. It would be nice to see both the Camaro and Challenger come out as production cars again. The Mustang needs some healthy competition if it too is to survive.
