Running board rubber removal

Does anyone have a technique for removing the rubber from old running boards? I have removed the top part of rubber (scraped it off), but can't get the residual glued stuff off the metal. Will sand blasting take this off without damaging the metal?

If its not to thick sand blasting can remove the left over glue and very small bits of rubber. But if its to thick you'll risk damaging the metal by trying to do to much blasting.
But since your probobly planning on blasting it anyways I would try a good liquid paint remover to get the last of the glue and junk off the metal then blast it.
A heat gun might get it off also. Try the heat gun before the paint stripper or you might have a slight" flame up" problem.
At this point I usually find out its just a lot of old elbo grease and keeping the final project in mind.

When I stripped mine on the 36 I used a propane torch and a paint scraper. It stunk and took a long time, but it did work.
