Running fuel lines like this?
Just trying to makesure I have it right..... Will be using stock in frame
tubing as it says and aftermarket fuel hose...... http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/g...uelDiagram.png ?? |
I would relocate the vapor canister closer to the tank to reduce engine bay clutter. The second inline filter closer to the carb probably isn't necessary. Looks good though
|
here's something else.
use high pressure F.I.hose. why? if something should go wrong (blockage, regulator goes nuts, etc) the pump WILL make 75 psi of fuel pressure and will burst the regular fuel hose. use it on BOTH the feed and return lines... |

happen? |
you have fuel spraying on a hot motor and you're worried about the carb?!?!?!
i'd be carring a BIG fire extinguisher and a LOT of insurance.... seriously... anyway, the carb WILL flood, dumping mucho fuel into the intake. you know the rest... |
Do you have to use the same vapor canister? K&N Makes a tiny little air filter I have used on RC cars. What about putting that on in an out of the way spot?
|
Why not use a low pressur fuel pump and eliminate that danger.

I figured there would be gas spraying if the lines busted... BUT Just wondered if the carb would be damaged if I ran F.I. lines that didnt bust and the pressure regulator failed. So just calm down my man. |

is being relocated..... |

I will be down the line. Not too far down the line... But not right now either. For now this way is a tried and proven way from what all Ive seen so Im not THAT worried but im also keeping a close eye on things... Im not running a different pump until I get a 20 gallon cell. Unless my pump failed before then id just get a holley RED instead of replacing the stock. |

i'm not the guy running for the extinguisher :mwink: i doubt it would do anything to the carb from excessive fuel pressure. the carb burning up in the fire might be an issue;) f.i. hose ain't hard to come by, ain't as cheap as the regular stuff, but that's what I'd do... run as much hard line as you can and then use the f.i. stuff... |

Im installing a sprinkler stystem in place of the windshield wiper fluid that is set to go off when the temp gets to fire hot like the kind thats right above your office space over der. ...how bout it. |
My Vette has 3 regulators, one to drop the initial pressure down and then 2 right before the carbs to set the correct pressure for them. If the main regulator fails the second set should catch it.With the return line it should just circulate back to the tank if the first regulator fails open.
You could try something like that. |

yeah that might work, but don't use washer fluid. that's flammable and yes, i know THAT by experience. btw, my "office"doesn't have a fire system, just an extinguisher right next to my toolbox :D seriously, use the high pressure stuff. hate to see the post that says:"well my car burnt up" |
I see you have a 88 s 10 , so i assume your keeping the stock F/P in the tank , and it was tbi so your only gonna be running 15-17 psi maxs so no real worries about high pressure FI fuel line.
