Runs cold Dec ---- warm in the summer
Last day of the year, traffic should be light this morning.
I decide to take the 59 to work.
Warm up the car before leaving the house--(about 40* out)
Leave the house with the temp gage on 200*
(180* modified hi-flow t-stat)
Within a mile, temps drops to 185----normal
On the hiway, the temp drops to 163 . With a drilled 180 stat, I would expect to get no lower than 180.
Mind you, heater was running, but still, after 30mi of hiway, shouldn't the temp be at least to the 180 of the t-stat??
I have a 180 hi-flow stat that has not been drilled, anyone think that might bring my temps up a bit.
Another issue when it is warmer out.
at about 55mph in 85-90 weather the car will run around 190 on the hiway.
at 60, the temp goes up to 200
at 70-80 the temps will drop back down to 185 to 190.
5th gear at 70 = 2140rpm
I know it is not overheating--as I tend not to get uptight til it gets 230+
My silly '220' on fan switch seldom trips before 230
Think I need a bit more timing??
or maybe some lighter springs in the Dizzy?
not exactly sure what it is at the moment.
Just looking for a few opinions.
I had the same problem with my vette. put the regular 180 stat in and go get some water wetter by red line. royal purple makes something like this too. they promise to lower water temps and it really works.
