Rust and Paint Removal

Hey everyone,
I am like most of you guys trying to cut into my spending by doing as much myself as I can. I brought this ALC Pressure Sandblaster to remove the rust and dirt from under the car and the paint from the body of the car. I and concern about doing more damage than good.
1. I will be using a painters respirator, is that good enough?
2. I heard about a plastic powder medium that won't damage
3. Was thinking of how I am I going to control the dust from
getting every where.
4. If I can find a plastic medium will it wash out of cracks
5. Trying to cut cost for body and paint job, plus I like
working on my rod, Any advice welcome.

messy messy messy there are many differnt types of blast medium
1st does it need to be blasted if its a hole then you will want to cut it out and blasting is mute
to contain the medium ive made a blast area using visqueen (clear)comleatly close the area in or do it out side
wat ever you use its gonna go every where unless you confine it or keep it out
kepp it out of your eyes ears mouth nose some people use a full face helmet i use a scuba mask ear muffs and a paint resperator good thick gloves and try not to leave any exposed any thing on your person
next seal off any where you dont want it to go just like paint
3 M has prouduct that will kill and seal rust be care ful not to warp the metal by blasting to hard/long in a spot
sometimes doing it yourself is not always the most cost effctive way to go
make sure to not touch the metal after it been cleaned the oil on you hands can screw you up later
and seal it up as fast as you can
good luck

Thanks Rob, I only think I am going to do the underneath and the engine area of the car. I will be using vis-queen to help confined it. I known its going to be messy, hopefully I can do it all in one day.
