Go to this URL and purchase these books it'll save you a lot of time trying to gleen information from web sites that's often incomplete in that it doesn't deal with the entire swap leaving to figure that out as you go.

It takes more than a set of headers and mounting plates to do this conversion, I've done many and use one as my personal ride. There are to be sure several ways to skin this project but I found Mike Knell's methodology and information whether you go with his stuff or not to be very thorough as to the details that you will hit as you do this. Beyond that, I have no skin in Mike's products.

About the only point I digress from his recipe is the radiator, I don't know how he does it, but I've had no luck keep a 350 cool either in heavy slow traffic or at sustained high RPM using the Corvette radiator. I've used 3 and 4 core 1970's era Malibu copper and brass units and Summit's 2 tube aluminum unit SUM38331 with success. The Summit radiator requires modifying the upper and lower radiator frame to set it down low enough to clear the filler and cap with the hood. The 454 brass and copper unit does not need that done, it will fit the stock frame and can be through bolted on the top to secure it into GM rubber mounts turned on their side and trimmed to fit.

The back side of the block will be buried into the firewall so select ignition components that don't require a lot of maintenance. You might as well cap off the oil pressure sender on the back and relocate that off one of the passage plugs by the oil filter, or remotely. From a handling stand point you want the engine as rearward as possible.

I've toyed with the idea of using a short water pump to gain some space between the radiator and fan, but haven't chased that idea. This would require a matching crank pulley and relocating of the accessory drives. I think it's an idea that has merit, if I ever have an opportunity to do another one I will give it a try.

If your truck doesn't have a front sway bar that addition plus a rear sway bar, lowering it an inch or two and adding high pressure shocks will go a long way to putting handling in the chassis that the V8's performance will demand. This gets to be a machine that can easily get out ahead of your brain so it needs some good handling and braking built in along with the engine.
