Post S-10 blazer, Tranny swap

Thanks to all for the great advice on my rearend woes. I think I've got a handle on which ratio I should use. Does anyone know if I can change the 350 trans to a 700r4 with no mods. to the drive shaft, etc? I have a s/b 350 installed (about 375 hp) and plan to install a 342 rear. any thoughts would be very welcome. I must admit to being a novice at driveline werks and your inputs have been invauable to me. Thanks again!!!

No, the 700R4 is 2 inches longer than the TH350 without the tailshaft, then you add the tailshaft of which the 350 came with three.
The rest of the subject can be more accurately explained by someone with more knowledge of the 700R4 than I have.
I am not saying it cannot be done, but there is a little more than a bolt in and go swap.
And yes the driveshaft will have to be shortened.
I also think it might be worth the little effort and expense to go with the 700R4.
Just my 2 cents.
