S-10 Chassis- V8 Swap

I picked up an s-10 chassis that has been bagged and c-notched in the rear.
Going to put a 49 international on this, along with a small block chevy.
The question of the day is, what all is needed to swap the sbc in the chassis. motor mounts, headers, oil pan etc.
I have seen pictures of one being built that had some steering issues between the colume and the box. getting around the exhaust. any suggestions. I was thinking about fender well headers. might be an issue with clearance when lowering bags ?.
Give me what input you have. good or bad.

thanks,

I've done a couple of these. I doubt if available fender well headers will fit. Use an 88 or later chassis.

I usually take a piece of 3/8 plate and drill the SBC block m-mount pattern into it. Then measure back and drill the 4.3 frame/motor mount into the rear end of this mount adapter. This allows you to set the motor on mounts.

An oil pan with(early) far back sump fits.

S-10 shorty Hedmans fit well for headers. The drag race equal tube ones are a PAIN. The trans ears have to be trimmed Etc.

78-80's Malibu cast manifolds fit with a little "Finesse" if you want Iron exh manifolds

this might help

I am guessing that u are using a 2 wheel drive s10 frame, If so s10 small block motor mounts will work and a standard oil pan as well. If it is a 4x4 frame then a special oil pan is needed. as far as exhaust any rear dump manifold will work for both frames, and ram horns will work on the 2wheel drive frames. I did a 47 ih kb 3 on 4x4 s10 frame and will be doing a 49 kb3 on a full size 3/4 ton 2 wheel drive frame and a 48 kb2 on a 3/4 ton 4x4 frame. still looking for a heavy duty ton and a half or 2 ton 4x4 frame for the 48 kb5.

Simple-save a few bucks and buy a hooker kit-Ive sold over 10 setups through the years and through a little finessing the kits are 9s that is of course that your looking to go faster than your next door neighbor. There are always pros and cons but a great kit. Have done s10s-vegas and the new mouse-luv truck-just for fun- good luck!
