Welcome to Hotrodders.

I edited the thread title since "need help" does not offer a clue to what your question is.

I had an S 10 years ago and was going to do the same thing. I sold the project when I moved back to florida at the time.
I got a jeep front axle a dana 44 I think, the width was almost perfect for building shackles to hook it to the frame in the front.
Also i got a dana 20 transfer case( IIRC thats what it was) and it was a divorced mount case. it had 3 driveshaft yokes on it, and a massive spot for mounting it on a bracket.
Sounds like a real cool and fun project .
I would think the 4 cylinder would be OK as most 4 wheel action is slow moving, and gear reduction is your friend.(low range)Could be a way cool crawler.

if you can fab swapping in a solid axle and making some brackets for a divorced tcase then some drive shafts and steering and you are good to go. i just acquired a np205 divorced for a mud truck i want to build i am wanting to start with a 2wd ranger, cheaper and easy to find i already have the running gear i have a king pin 60 and d70 combo with the divorced np205 it should be fun.

first things first can you weld, whats your budget, what is the use etc....
