S-10 Dash

I was just wondering if there was a way to put an older dash and components from say like a 1983 S-10 into a 1988 S-10. I was just wondering how simmilar the trucks are in the inside and if it was an easy swap in, swap out or is there some modifications required. I really don't like the one that is in there now. All it is is a gas guage and a speed-O-meter that only goes up to 85. I have also thought about putting a race style dash but really don't like that idea. If nothing else how does a digital dash from an S-10 blazer work?

Thanks for your time

Go to www.s10forum.com or www.s-series.org and do a search. I know the clusters from trucks with the same basic style as yours are interchangeable. The wiring and other connections are where it gets interesting. Some of them use a speedo cable and others are hard wired. I have a 87 S-10 and like you, Iím not real happy with the cluster. I took mine apart, painted the blue background white and painted the gray cover (under the Plexiglas) satin black. Replace all the dash lights while itís disassembled. I like the way it turned out but I still want something better. Iím planning a V-8 swap so Iíll just wait until that project is finished.

Quick follow upÖ

I have NOT purchased anything from this seller but is this something you would be interested in? I have seen them list a cover for clusters with speedo and fuel gauge only.

What i think i am going to do is maybe keep the old dash for now and i think i found in a jegs or some catalog that there is a guage cluster that you can buy for the truck. I will save choping out the whole dash right now and leave that for another summer project. Thanks for the websites!!!

I've got the same cluster in my 91 Sonoma and I don't like it either. I've done the 350 swap and the dinky little 85 mph speedo leaves me guessing too much. I especially miss a tach!

Let us know what you find out.
