?'s on a 383 stroker chevy...

i looked at a 383 today, 2 pistons have uneven wear on the skirts, took it the machine shop they said there wasnt anything wroung with the bores, just to put new pistons in it and let it go, but what can i do with a 383 stroker with cast crank, rods, and 6 pistons i dont even know that they still make..... im lookn for a good hotrod motor for my sons 62' nova, it will b automatic car, the gears will b 3.73's, i have a victor jr. intake, a 750 and a 600 edelbrock performer carbs to use, and i like the sound of the eddy's performer rpm cam..... so what could i do here??????????

I'd want the rods checked for those two cylinders, to see if they are bent.

Actually, I'd pass on the whole deal unless it is cheap enough that you can go through it and replace a few parts if needed, like a rod set or piston set.

Be aware of the special oil pan needs of the early Nova, pan interferes with steering linkage if you try to use a normal rear sump pan, pan has to be special for that chassis.

yeah milodon and moroso makes a good pan 4 it, the 383 short block the guy is asking $500 for it, i tried to get him down to $250 he wouldnt go for it, the way i look at it, if it needs 2 pistons you cant add them in the cost??

now the guy wants $700 for a block needing pistons, all cast rods and crank, 2-bolt main at that? i see $500 at the very most, they are almost as cheap to bulid as a good ole 350!!! what tha crap????
