S/B 350 What options do i have? (Im pretty new to Engine specs and need some help ple

Ok Here it is.

I am currently starting on a new Rod, and am trying to make sure everything goes smoothly, so am looking into what the best combination of engine parts to get the package that will give the results i want to achieve.

I know I want a 350 or stroked 350, I want the car to preform well, as a street/strip toy basically.

I would like to go somewhere in the range of 500HP, preferably without supercharging at this stage as the expense over this side of the world to do that is rather large.

Any help Idea would be appreciated, and while i am familiar with engines, the actual process of selecting components to create an engine to achieve the result i want is out of my scope.

One of the members provided this site on a similar recent question:

www.ryanscarpage.50megs.com/combos1.html

I found it gives numerous options.

While getting 500hp out of a 350 is very possible, it would be much easier with something like a 383 or 400. Depending on your budget and the intended specifics of the car, weight, transmission, gear ratio etc, there are a number of routes you can take. Since you are familiar with cars, as you know, an engine should be built for the entire package of what its going in.

Where do you want your powerband? Do you want low off-idle performance or do you plan on running a stall and building more for mid-top end power?

Just some food for thought. Once these things are taken care of (and im sure even before that) there are many knowledgable people on here that will give you proven combinations to achieve your goals.

Thanks for the link, lots of interesting combos on there, but the technical bits is what gets me.

The car should be fairly lightweight, fibreglass, and simplistic yet effective chassis.

Will be running through a 9" rear, have yet to decide on gear ratio, transmission yet as i belive they will also be sorted along with the engine combo i choose to go with.

As for where the powerband is wanted, that one i am not totally sure myself, I do want the car to be very streetable, and yet also want to do reasonable times down the 1/4 as this is really a toy as I allready have a daily drive rod as well.
