#s matching?
hey guys out of the shop & onto the p.c. for this one. i pulled my 50 chevy out of the pasture w/ low miles on the odomiter & just agood "all there" truck. so i need to find out if the moter IS the origonal one. ive got the #s from the door post & the numbers off the block, how do i compare to see if its the right one? if not were going small block. so im not real sure what to wish for. well thanks guys.

On the passenger side of the engine (should be the 216 cid), back just to the rear of the distributor, there will be a boss w/a code stamped on it. If your engine is a 1950, the code will start w/the letter"H".
IIRC, there weren't partial VIN numbers like was done later on. The numbers after the letters are the sequence number. Get some photos up!! |
