I have an S10 ZR2 8.5" from a '94 which had 110k on the odometer. Paid $50 at the u pull it, and it does need some work. being a ZR2 is a 3.73 gov bomb, which it is in tact and not blown up. but, I would put in a diffrent carrier. it also has a leaky axle seal, and the drums are trash.
I'v been considering buying an Explorer 8.8" for $50 from the U pull it, and selling the ZR2 8.5" for a few hundred.. That would give me 4 wheel disc brakes, and matching bolt patterns front and rear, as well as a rebuildable and reliable Traction lock.. But the Expo has a pinion that is offset approx 2 5/16". Is that going to be an issue? The S10 has somthing like 1/2" offset
This would be for my hotrod, and it will have a paralell 4 bar with coil overs
