S10 chasis under 61 cab ?

I have a 61 Chevy long bed I've been thinking about trying to shorten significantly unless I cut the chassis I was thinking about finding a shorter chassis I could place cab on and cut bed? I can get a 88 s10 for 100 bucks would it be possible to mount ?

why dont you just cut your frame down? It has ALL the mounts that you are going to have to fab if you use the s 10 frame. You said you can get an s10 frame for $100. Use that $100 on something esle. Your frame you ALREADY have is FREE. And besides, isn't an s-10 frame to narrow in the front? Your tires would stick in WAY to far and look pretty goofy.

If I cut my chassis and move back wheel base forward what effect would that create for handling ? If I just cut the bed behind the back wheels it still is longer then I'm shooting for.

You cut the frame and bed in front of the wheels. Cutting the frame will do nothing to effect the handling in a bad way UNLESS you do it wrong. The bed will get cut in front of and behind the wheels. You should be able to find a short stepside bed cheap enough.
