S10 engine swap

i have a 1991 S10 and although the stock 4.3 liter V6 isn't slow i discovered that i have a lead foot. i need some more power and was looking for either a relatively cheap engine swap or a way to get a lot more power out of my V6. any help is appreciated. thanks.

you need a small block to go in there. Trans will bolt right up, mounts too? Thinks so. Put a 400 SBC in there, probably a few hundred at a bone yard

I would try to find a TBI 350 out of a fullsize pickup or camaro. That way you can reuse you're stock wiring harness and all you'd need is a prom change.
As long as the engine is fairly stock you can use the stock 4.3 radiator.
The stock 4.3 accessory brackets can be used
The stock 4.3 transmission can be used.
With mounts there are 2 options you can get the 4.3 to v8 adapters or swap to 2.8 frame mounts and get the 2.8 to v8 adapters. In my opinion the 2.8 frame mounts are a better design than the 4.3 frame mounts.

I suggest borrowing or buying the v8 swap book from www.v8s10.com
and you should drop by our forum at www.v8s10.org you'll find alot of answers to your questions there. We've got several PA. guys too that might be able to help you with emissions regulations.
