Well, the good part is- most of 'em you see aren't sporting more than rims and a body kit. So, no worries there

Don,t buy a 4 wheel drive S10 to make a hot street truck. the front section of frame is totally different and you don,t want all that extra weight. If your budget will allow go with a narrowed 9 inch ford with posi and pro street type 4 link with coil overs. This may be a little more than you need but you won,t have to redo it if you decide too up the power down the road. As they say "spinnin ain't winnin" so if you are serious about getting the power to the pavement don't do it twice.

So beating one would bring all the satisfaction of beating up someone's little sister??

Lol! Well... Maybe Just kiddin. I'm not concerned with being faster than anyone, really. I appreciate the enthusiasm of tuners and hotrodders alike, who enjoy fixing up their rides. I'm just a poor dude who really doesn't have enough money to be in this hobby anyways- So, I don't worry myself with beating anyone. There's always someone with a faster and better looking ride than mine (wouldn't take much )

Nonetheless- a v8 s10 can be a pretty quick ride. Possibly faster than an import with a coffee can exhaust and otherwise stock setup. It's not the high end tuner cars that I'd care to challenge (not that I challenge anyone- I don't condone illegal street racing)- But it's the guys who act like they have a high end tuner and can't be beat. I don't have anything to prove, but the sound from my dual exhaust is all the proof I need to show I'm not running stock- that's satisfaction enough for me.
Happy motoring

Nooj

I understand. We all want to carve out our little piece of the attention. I'm no different. My street racing days are long behind me too but I might have to do a spontaneous volumetric efficiency test every now and then, maybe when I am beside some glasspacked Cheby.
But there is something about saying you are going to build this to beat that and it is all to often something like "I want to build a flathead to smoke those small block Chevys" Which makes about as much sense.
