S10 rearend on AD truck

I'm in the middle of my 55.1 build and the kit I'm using is the AD-engineering one. The kit calls for a 4x4 rearend from an S10 for an additional 5". Instead of that would I be able to use a wider tire and wheels with a backspace? I guess I should of put this in the rearend forum.

i checked out the website of AD-engineering and i see what your talking about, i dont think you should have any problem with a wider wheel and tire using a 2wd rearend

the 4x4 rear is wider, the only problem you may have is tire clearance in the inside (clearance with the bed) but that can be fixed with wheel spacers or custom wheels if you already have the rear.

i don't know if it will cause a problem, but that would seem to be where a problem could arise.

Thanks bob, I am going with custom wheels so I think it should not be a problem.
