I have a '91 S10 2.5 4 cyl backed by a T-5. I'm kicking around the idea of a V8 swap. I know the bellhousing won't work but can the NWC 4 cyl T-5 be upgraded to World Class spec to handle a bone stock mild 350? Thanks.
No. But there are performance upgrades that can be done to the non WC. I see you are from PA. There is a guy in Lancaster, Ed something or other. He is at Carlisle every year - he can hook you up.. If I can find his card , then I'll forward the info.
The input shaft and front bearing retainer are too long on that transmission to work with a V8 conversion. You need to find a 4.3 transmission or a Camaro V8 transmission.
The gears in the 4-cyl or V-6 T-5 5-speeds are too frail and spindly to handle the torque and power of any V-8. You need a V-8 Camaro T-5 in either world class or non-world class (both have the same strength) and put the S-10 tail-housing on the back of it. It is more involved than that. Please feel free to call me at ********* ****** or PM me.
