S10.....tranny swap.

I have an 83 S10 Blazer 4x4, with the 2.8 /auto trans with OD..............I am thinking of
doing a v8 swap with an automatic. I have a turbo350 with short
tailshaft laying around. I was told that I can take the tailshaft
housing off and put on the transfer case adapter, with only slight
modification to the inner shaft. I was told that I could cut about an inch off the shaft and still have enough spline to go into the transfer case.

Anybody know any more on this subject?

Here is what I could come up with quickly.
But that can't be the only solution. I'll look some more.

the auto trans in the s-10 now should be a small bell 700r4 turbo hydramatic with a 4x4 out put shaft .

To cut a short piece off the 6 inch output shaft of the t-350 tranny , then bolt the t-350 in place will require the spacer / adapter that was developed when 700's were being replaced by the hundreds. The adapter is machined to insert and align the parts. Standard OE style Square cut O-rings are used. The kits came with some pieces of ALL thread and nuts to bolt it all together

The 6 inch t-350 turbo hydramatic output shaft is tooo long to cut off and directly bolt up. There would be NO splines as I recall.

The adapter was used to keep everyt thing lined up with the shorter t-350 turbo hydramatic
