S10 Transmission Problem
Hello,
I am having a problem with my transmission on my 1997 2 wheel drive, 4.3L 6 Cyl S10! 2 weeks ago i was in a fight with my girlfriend on the highway. Over the course of the drive she kicked and slammed my shifter all over the place. I was going approx 70mph. Eversense this happned the tranny will make a click noise and when i drive it feels like it lacks power. When i accelerate it makes a vibration! The truck only has 59,125 on it. Does anyone have any idea what the problem may be? How much time i might have? Do i need to replace the tranny or can i fix it? Should i not be driving it or can i? This whole thing is very stressful. Any input or advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank You -Mike |

First get a new girlfriend, you won't want to have kids in a mini van with her driving.

First off i agree get rid of her, But first get $1200 to $1500 to replace it!!

Was it knocked into a lower gear (the truck would have slowed from engine braking)? Is the clicking you hear happening as you drive, and if so, in what gear(s)? Can you 'feel' the clicking through the shifter? Do you hear the clicking w/the clutch pushed in? Hear it in neutral? Does it change w/engine rpm or road speed? All in all just glad this bs didn't kill an innocent family... |

All joking aside, slamming the shifter is an unreasonable thing to do. So is hitting a woman. Let her go. She could have caused a Crash.
Your trans sounds like it has been hurt bad. Your best bet may be a factory rebuilt, unless you know a good rebuilder. The sprag or one way is prolly damaged, as well as the sun shell. Both pieces are costy. God knows what else. |
Don't know why but thought it was a manual.

If a girl is trouble you avoid her. Be a man about it, Not a Lowlife.
Dont expect much from anyone with such an adolescent mindset like her. We dont condone the suggested activity made by a few members here so the post was altered/deleted. No one else need post a comment.I find nothing amusing about it and will take action. Gentlemen..........watch your manners. :nono: |
I agree with the moderator on the woman troubles. True she could have caused a crash. Your transmission is probably shot all to pieces. The hard parts for 4L60E transmissions arent cheap at all. Be prepared to spend between 1500 to 2000 on a rebuild.
