a) I always thought a LS1-family (right now a LS7 would be sweet) in a S10 xtreme or 2wd stepside would be a sweet ride. Manual transmission of course!

b) some specialized s10/v8 swap places...

c) regarding engine choice, a 1990s Vortec would be a lot less expensive than LS1s unless you can get a deal on it, or have the resources to get one. The vortec engine is also probably a lot easier to install since the block architecture is basically the 4.3v6 but 'complete'. (350v8) I haven't done this before so I can't say. I wish you luck though.

conversion iformation

If you go to this site http://www.jagsthatrun.com/ you should be able to get a conversion manual and most, if not all of the parts that you need. I put a 1968 corvette 327HP engine in my 84 S-10, and it woul have been very difficult without the motor mount conversion plates and special headman headers. I did not purchase a conversion manual, but I hear that it makes things much easier, I am sure it would have saved me some headaches.

Let me also add that the LS1 will fit. I have seen several late model S-10s with LS1 engines in them.

Friend of mine is in the process of doing a 2000 something S-10 Xtreme Blazer with an LS1 right now. Looks like it will be a pretty sweet setup when it's finished.

There was an episode on trucks last Sunday and I think Advanced adaptors has an S-10 V8 swap kit that comes with the special motor mounts, ceramic coated headers and bolts n gaskets and maybe something else for like 500 bucks!
Good price being that the coated headers would run ya 350 or more by thereslves. Hg

Check to see what kind of emissions testing and requirements your state, and local municipalities require.
