saab oil pressure?
 I have an 81 saab 900, no turbo, that will hold oil pressure for about 6 hrs, after that it won't build pressure on it's own. If I remove the oil filter mount and fill the "by-pass" tube your good to go. Leave it for more than 6 hrs won't build pressure. Any body have an idea? THANKS!

Just a guess, but I'd say the bypass pressure spring assy in the oil filter mount is shot...

Could be a loose or cracked oil pump pickup. I once had a customers 84 8v 900 turbo with no oil pressure, tried a master gauge, and priming through the sender hole but no go. Turns out a short 6 x 1mm bolt (10mm head) had fallen out of the timing chain rail near the cam gear and locked up the pump.
Yours sounds more like it sucks air once the oil has 'bleed' out of the pump.
