Unhappy sad news

i found out today that a fellow hotrodder and newengland dragracer passed away friday.

bob ellison the co owner of the famous boston strangler dragster was in a track accident a week or so ago at the national willies drag races. i think they were in indiana but i'm not sure. from the info that i recieved he had some sort of brake rotor failure while making a run in his 33 willies , the car hit the wall and bob had been in the hospital since then the info i had was second hand but it was from a very good friend.

bob was known locally as boppin bob

life can take very sudden and unexpected turns make the most out of today

Sorry to hear that Hllrzr,
did you know him personally? Dragracing is such a nice sport yet so dangerous.

yes i did, he was a super guy, bob and his wife shirley were also 50s dj's they would get out on the dance floor and whip it up good. we also just by coincidence had side by side spaces at an anual swap meet we have every spring. as a matter of fact the last time i saw him i gave him an old set of stereo speakers that didn't sell that day for his shop.

Sad news indeed. I'm very sorry for his family and everyone that knew him. He'll not be forgotten in the racing world.
