Post Saginaw 4-speed question for G. Goat

Have you ever used one with the 3.5 low gear? I have a 3.11 now, and I wonder how they compare. Car is a 72 Nova w/3.08 rear gear & 350 (soon to be 327).

P.S. Still got the stock shifter?

The ones I normally use has a 2.89 1st gear. The ones with 3.11 :1 1st gear are usually out of a Vega and are not very strong. I am currently running a 3.55 gear and when I first started running Sagainaws I was running a 3.23 gear. As far a a shifter I recommend using a Hurst Competition Plus, But if you can't afford it use a Hurst Indy.

Mine came from a Vega & I've put about 80,000 miles on it w/no problems. I do have a stock clutch though. My factory shifter has worked fine since I had the S-curve removed (broke it racing a Buick). I have a 3.5 in the store room, so I may just try it out when I R & R the engine.
