Saginaw/hurst Linkage

I Have A Saginaw 4 Speed With A Hurst Shifter On A 69 Nova. Pretty Sure The Linkage Is Stock. When I Bought The Car, The Tranny And Shifter Were Laying In The Trunk So I'm Trying To Piece Things Together. I'm Questioning Whether I Have The Linkage Correct. Any Pics Would Be Helpful. I Haven't Been Able To Get It Into Neutral. What Position Do I Need The "fittings" On The Transmission To Be In For Neutral? I Appreciate Any Help.

The nubs on the front and middle shifter shafts (they come out through the side cover) should be vertical, and the rear shaft should be as far counterclockwise as it will go. A crescent wrench is good for this. The levers that bolt to the shifter shafts should go on top, with the shift rods above the shafts.

Count the annular rings (if any) on the input shaft (around the splined area) so you can find out what gear ratios you have. www.dandltransmission.com/saginaw.html (scroll to bottom)

The Nub On The Far Rear Of The Side Cover Is Inset A Bit. The Front Two Stick Out From The Side Cover. Its Like The Back One Is Spring Loaded. It Pulls Out When I Bolt The Linkage To It, Or I Can Pull It Out With A Pliers, But It Always Pops Back In. Is This Normal? Or Should It Be Poking Out With The Rest Of Them? In Order For Me To Turn It With The Linkage Off, I Need To Put The Bolt In It And Pull It Out W/ A Pliers And Then Turn It.
