Do you have a 3 speed or a 4 speed? The 3 speed will have 2 shifter shafts, the 4 speed will have 3 shafts.
This may help some:
KellyGeneral Information

Saginaw transmissions come in two basic varieties, 3-speed and 4-speed, and have the following characteristics:
  • Cast iron case
  • Cast iron side cover
    • 7 attaching bolts
    • Shift levers
      • 2 for 3-speed transmissions
      • 3 for 4-speed transmissions
  • Cast iron tail housing
Saginaw 4-speed Gear Ratios No grooves 2.84 2.01 1.34 1.00/ 1 groove 2.54 1.80 1.44 1.00 Common/1 groove 2.54 1.80 1.32 1.00 Rare/ 2 grooves 3.11 2.20 1.47 1.00/ 3 grooves 3.50 2.46 1.65 1.00 The grooves are on the input shaft.

Also to the best of my knowledge there are really no identiying marks other than part numbers that would indicate a year range it was used in. The rings on the input shaft are used to identify the gear ratio that is inside (unless it has been swapped out over the years). It should fit any GM with the same input shaft, the out put shaft could be matched to a yoke and the universal would adapt that to your driveshaft. I'm sure someone knows more about them than I do, so hopefully someone more knowledgable will jump in soon.

There should be a small flat little like ledge at bottom of trans believe on shifter side stamped like R4*** something like that it will give you date code but other than that I don't think you'll be able to link it to what car it came from.
