Saginaw Manual Steering Box
Does anyone know what type of oil (lube) is used in the saginaw 525 manual steering box

Wheel bearing grease. pack it full, but leave room for the bearing housing on top.
That is what the guy at mullins told me when I had to clean out the 90 wt that someone had put in one of their vega boxes. Don't use 90 wt gear oil. It will eventually drain out of the box. The factory manuals call out a GM lube number that is no longer available, and has not been superseded. I called around and did a search for the stuff a few months back Hope this helps, mikey

I have used just plain old valvoline grease gun tube.
I think the last one I did I used Mobil 1 synthetic grease.  http://www.snopes.com/politics/soapbox/lamm.asp
