Post Saginaw or Muncie...

I was asking about M21 and M20 muncies, because I was trying to buy one on eBay, but seeing as the auction ended without me winning, I have some more time without a transmission.

what I am wondering is with my new engine going to be around 430-450 horse and 400ish torque, will the Saginaw 4-speed that was in there when I bought it hold up?

I still plan on replacing the transmission as soon as I can with a Muncie, but just curious if it will take anything.

I know nothing about Saginaws at all.

Saginaws aren't as strong as Muncies, but they aren't bad transmissions. The Muncies have an aluminum case as opposed to the cast iron case of the Saginaw, that is why most people like them more. Don't sidestep the clutch a 6000 rpm in first gear and your saginaw should hold up until you can get a muncie. Good luck

Borg warner also built some very good trannys and they seem to be in fair supply at reasonable prices. I also believe that the saginaw is a very good choice for your application. If muncie is what you want then muncie it shall be. I like to keep my options open,I might find a better alt. One never knows
